Chelsea & Atlético Madrid keen - Five potential Alejandro Garnacho transfer destinations

Just over a one year since scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final, Alejandro Garnacho’s Manchester United career appears over. The Argentinian winger burst onto the scene under Erik ten Hag and showed immense promise in the fledgling stages of his career - including winning the FIFA Puskas award - but his relationship with Ruben Amorim is now frayed. Despite featuring regularly as Man United reached the Europa League final, Amorim dropped the 20-year-old for the showpiece against Tottenham and Garnacho wasn’t happy at playing just twenty minutes.”
Speaking after the defeat to Spurs, Garnacho said: “Up until the final I played every round helping the team, and today I played 20 minutes, I don't know. The final will influence [my decision] but the whole season, the situation of the club. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards." Amorim was reportedly furious with Garnacho’s conduct and informed the winger that he should find a new club this summer. It’s understood that United want in excess of €50 million for Garnacho but where will he end up? We’ve analysed five potential destinations.
Alejandro Garnacho: Five potential transfer destinations
Aston Villa
The Independent has claimed that Aston Villa are firmly in the race for Garnacho and it remains his preference to remain in the Premier League. Villa’s ability to spend this summer will be dependent on how much they can raise from player sales as they are in danger of breaching PSR regulations. Garnacho would represent a major coup for Villa but they could have an opening in their squad on the left wing with Arsenal interested in Morgan Rogers and Marcus Rashford returning to Man United.
Chelsea
Chelsea were strongly linked with Garnacho in January and their interest remains. A move to Stamford Bridge would satisfy the Argentinian’s desire to stay in the Premier League and it would provide him Champions League football. Man United’s valuation won’t deter Chelsea and their policy of signing younger talents is renowned - Garnacho would fit their strategy.
Tottenham
According to a report in the Telegraph, Tottenham hold an interest in signing Garnacho this summer. Thomas Frank has replaced Ange Postecoglou in the dugout and he's already strengthened Spurs' attacking options with Mohammed Kudus. Heung-Min Son has been Tottenham's primary option at left-wing for over a decade but the South Korean legend is entering the twilight years. Garnacho wants to stay in England, with London his dream destination, and Spurs would be an interesting destination.
Napoli
Napoli had two bids rejected for Garnacho in January with the biggest worth over €50m with add-ons included. The Serie A champions’ offer wasn’t accepted by Old Trafford chiefs but they are likely to reignite their interest this summer. Napoli secured a bargain fee for Scott McTominay and they’ll believe his former Man United teammate can enjoy a similar impact in Italy.
Atlético Madrid
Garnacho progressed through the youth ranks at Atlético Madrid before joining Man United for €465k in 2020. The winger has been linked with a return to the Spanish capital with countryman Diego Simeone a huge admirer. Like Chelsea, Atletico would have no problems in affording Garnacho’s demands but any deal will hinge on his desire to return to Spain.
